Optionally available as a complete package drum molding system including: - 55 gallon tight-head drum mold shown in our reference number 90042 OFFERED AS COMPLETE 55 GALLON (220 LITER) DRUM BLOW MOLDING SYSTEM - OR - STAND-ALONE 33 POUND (14.4 KG) ACCUMULATOR HEAD BLOW MOLDING MACHINE EXTRUDER SECTION: * 4.5 inch 24:1 L/D Battenfeld High-Torque Extruder driven by a 200 HP D.C. drive motor * Extended Deep Grooved Feedthroat. Battenfeld's advanced design high performance conventional feedscrew machined from SAE 4140 steel with Colmonoy hard surfaced flight lands. The screw is rated at 1100 PPH of HDPE. * Intensively cooled grooved feedthroat - This efficient feedthroat provides the high feeding forces required for low temperature processing of todayís high molecular weight polyethylenes as well as fractional melt HDPE's * The barrrel is fabricated from SAE steel with bimetallic liner and has a pressure rating of 10,000 PSI. A safety rupture disc is supplied at the discharge end. The barrel is divided into three (3) zones of ceramic heaters for heating and individual high air volume blowers for cooling. The barrel and heaters are covered with insulated guards * Extruder drive is a 200 HP, D.C. SCR, 1750 RPM constant torque system. It includes an open drip-proof motor, cooling blowers and filter. All drive controls are mounted in the main extruder control panel. 460 volts/3 phase/60 hertz PRESS SECTION 48 inch wide x 56 inch high clear platen press with three (3) heavy duty tie bar construction, giving the operator unlimited access for ease of, part removal and mounting of molds. The platens and end frames are fabricated from 1020 steel. The end frames are designed to support the three tie bars. The heavy duty platens are clamped and opened by two hydraulic cylinders per platen. These cylinders are mounted on the end frames with the actuating rods connected to the platens for even and complete clamping force distribution. Hartig's unique platen timing chain system assures symmetrical clamp closing. Included are flexible hydraulic hoses and piping between the press and unitized base. For operator safety, a hydraulic and electrical safety system is provided to prevent press movement while press gates are open. The press area is enclosed with expanded metal to ensure safe operation. HYDRAULICS: * The Battenfeld hydraulic power system was designed and developed to work efficiently to operate the press, accumulator head(s) and auxiliary functions * Valving is cartridge type for the highest oil flow and fastest response of any valve design available today. Due to the cartridge valveís design, the wear characteristics are far superior to that of spool valves. All valves are manifold mounted and utilize electrical connectors with integral LED's and surge suppressors * Press and ram speed are independently proportionally variable through the MACO 8000 for tight process control and shock-free performance * The power unit is floor mounted with integral drip pan, sight level gauge, pressure gauges, and for ease of maintenance, all port and valve designations are stamped on the manifold PNEUMATICS: * Includes required regulators, filter and valving for air blow and pre-blow ACCUMULATOR HEAD: * One(1) Battenfeld 33 pound Accumulator Head designed for a 33 pound shot with a first-in, first-out flow configuration providing optimum parison uniformity. The unique co-axial dual hydraulic cylinders provides a rapid parison drop and high precision parison programming * The tooling size range is approximately 18 inches diameter maximum and 4 inch diameter minimum * The head is designed for rapid color change, ability to process difficult materials, and air passage for top blow CONTROLS: * The control panel is a three-door NEMA enclosure with main power disconnect shock mounted on the unitized base wired 460 volts/3 phase/60 hertz. The following components are included: Barber-Colman MACO 8000 Microprocessor control system with CRT for control of the following functions: * Control temperature on all zones displayed via operatorís station. (Up to 96 zones available) The system provides independent zone temperature control and can be independently tuned * Total machine sequential control up to 100 independent timer functions available depending on number of sequence modules in system * Solid state cartridges for program and control parameter storage * Parison process control with individual weight and die gap settings and graphic display of profile setpoints * The exclusive use of individual control modules allows initial system to be easily expanded to meet future requirements * Sequence control is accomplished by the use of an IBM or IBM compatible personal computer using industry standard JIC graphic symbols BASE: * Main base is a unitized construction and serves as a mounting platform for extruder and accumulator head. An access catwalk and stairs are provided for maintenance and set-up of extruder and accumulator head
